January 6th and 7th, 2022; February 10th and 11th, 2022; and March 10th and 11th, 2022

Radisson Hotel, Bismarck, ND

This 6 day program was established by Dr. Ed Porthan and updated by Dr. Marv Erhardt and Dr. Jim Stenehjem. We are now on the 4th edition that contains numerous updates on brain research. This program has been utilized by numerous North Dakota administrators over the years. We were at a point when most of all the administrators had taken the course, so we did not offer it for a few years. Now we are at a point with a lot of new administrators who have not had the option of taking this valuable course, so we have put it back into the lineup. If you are interested or if you know someone who would be interested in getting the best of what we currently know about effective instruction, effective learning, and effective school leadership this is the course for you! This program consists of 3 two day training sessions. This is the course that takes the theory that was learned in graduate school and helps you APPLY it in your current role as an administrator. The training will take place at the Bismarck Radisson in the ____ room on January 6th and 7th, 2022; February 10th and 11th, 2022; and March 10th and 11th, 2022.

Deep Dive Into Investigations Training and OCR Investigations & Guidance (Section 504) Training

Friday, January 14, 2022 - 9:00am-4:00pm CT

Baymont Inn& Suites in Mandan

Day One: Deep Dive into Investigations

One of the calls we get often is about conducting investigations.  It can be a difficult, uncomfortable and sometimes even scary scenario.  North Dakota is one really big small town and the implications of a well conducted investigation are real.  School leaders are under constant pressure to improve the safety, security and overall well-being of their staff and students. When allegations are made or an incident occurs, school districts are responsible for following up before requesting external help.

Internal school investigators may be asked to investigate incidents regarding student conduct, safety, security, attendance, academics, human resources and more. Conducted properly, school investigations can increase enrollment, decrease liability, improve student learning, raise employee morale and boost overall school success.  This training will help develop and improve investigations from the novice to the most tenured investigator.

This is the perfect pre-session to 504 training and will also supplement your Title IX training.

Day Two: OCR Investigations & Guidance (Section 504) Training

Will address the basics of determining when a 504 plan is required and will also address the newest OCR guidance and the developing case law on discrimination against persons with disabilities in school settings. The presenter will also go over the steps and procedures of investigations. The program is appropriate for public and private school educators. We will cover the basics with a focus on the new developments in the law.

Principal Bootcamp

September 28, 2022

Bismarck/Mandan, ND

We heard from MANY that being out of the building at that time in early August is so difficult for all principals.  Also – if you are new…sometimes you just don’t know what you don’t know yet…getting a couple of weeks under your belt and THEN coming together to learn is a better fit.   To accommodate for that, we are shifting our “principal day” to September.
